Monastery of Anafonitria

The Monastery of Anafonitria with its characteristic bell tower is located in Plemonari, about 25 km. northwest of Zakynthos. It was probably founded in the 15th century and in 1568 it was given to Archbishop Dionysius Sigouros, who later became a Saint and protector of the island.

Blue Caves

The Blue Caves were discovered in 1897 and are located on the north side of the island not far from Skinari. What makes them special, apart from their morphology, is the deep blue color of the water inside the caves as well as the countless corals, in purple and orange colors.

There are organized tours by boats, either from the city or other tourist areas like Laganas, St. Nicholas, Skinari etc. You can also use your private yacht to reach the caves.
